Gingerbread Man

We are studying the gingerbread man this week. We will be going on a hunt for him in our school to save him from the crafty fox. Please let us know if you have spotted him at your house!

Artwork!

We took a leaf walk this week and collected fall leaves. Above is our stained glass wall.

Also, each week your student will complete a directed art lesson based on the letter of the week. I will keep these and compile an alphabet book for your student to take home in May. Can you guess what this week's animal was?!

Week 3

Thank you for coming to Curriculum Night. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting each of you. If your student's sugar cube creation made it home in one piece you will see they were hard at work as masons building homes with bricks and mortar. We learned how to stagger our cubes to mak emore stable homes.

We also enjoyed apple taste tests and discussed the parts of an apple: flesh, stem, skin while examining them under magnifying glasses. Students also enjoyed hearing the story of Johnny Appleseed.

Week 2

Students were busy at work in literacy circles and math sorting activities. They were introduced to the Venn diagram and learned how to sort for both commonalities and differences. We also worked on our "All About Me" books and reviewed color concepts. (Ask your child what happens when watercolors mix with coffee filters.) Have a great weekend!

First Week

We've had a wonderful first week in Kindergarten! I've enjoyed assessing each student and learning more about our learners. We also spent time establishing rules and routines and getting to know each other. Look for the weekly newsletter to be posted here as well.
